SwankOut is a UK producer and DJ working across the connected vocabularies of rave, hardcore breaks, jungle techno, garage and bass music. Active since 2012, the project treats these forms as a shared continuum rather than as separate revivalist categories.
The sound is rooted in old-skool rave energy: chopped breakbeats, heavyweight low end, sampled vocals and direct club pressure. House and garage structures regularly enter the frame, while jungle and techno supply much of the music's pace, tension and rhythmic edge.
SwankOut became closely associated with Top Drawer Digital, where the project brought a distinctly rave-facing, old-skool and VIP-minded angle to the label's catalogue. Vinyl Junkie noted in 2023 that SwankOut joined after the label's initial backbone had formed, but made a clear mark on the TDD sound.
Early releases such as “Want U” established a route into breakbeat-led dance music, while later Top Drawer Digital material including “Feelin' Ghetto,” “Mobeus” and “Ultimate Bad Boy” sharpened the project's focus on rugged rave constructions.
“Gorgon,” issued on Top Drawer Digital X in 2019, is part of that label connection. The subsequent VIP reworks collected as Get Darker (The VIP Remixes) revisited “Feelin' Ghetto,” “Mobeus” and “Ultimate Bad Boy,” underlining SwankOut's interest in recasting tracks for a renewed rave-floor function.
The catalogue has also moved through Form & Motion, Hardcore Energy, N4 Records, Dance Trax, Kniteforce and Torre. Releases such as “Jungliss,” “Build Up,” “The Cannon Effect” and “Bass Rising” show a continued dialogue between breakbeat hardcore, jungle-derived rhythm and contemporary bass pressure.
Collaboration is an important part of the project's recent work. “Livin in Darkness” connected SwankOut with Top Buzz and Mad P, while N4 material has included work with Pete Cannon. The 2026 release “Can You Feel The Power” with Billy Daniel Bunter places the project in direct conversation with a long-running UK hardcore lineage.
SwankOut's DJ activity has included Bristol bills alongside artists such as Borai and Pete Cannon, as well as a b2b appearance with T-Cuts in London. Recorded sets including a Hardcore Energy session at Lakota and a live performance with MC Mad P at Amnesia House reflect the same hybrid approach heard in the productions.
The 2025 Speed Garage EP brought garage more explicitly into the foreground through tracks such as “Gun Shot,” “Rude Bwoy Monty,” “Love Commands” and “Approach Phase.” Across its catalogue, SwankOut remains committed to the productive overlap between rave memory, hardcore physicality and present-day UK club music.
