KID ELLIPSIS

Kid Ellipsis is the project of Will Gilfillan, a DJ and producer based in Richmond, Virginia. Beatport's artist page names that city and presents him as a Richmond, VA-based DJ and producer who has worked bass-heavy UK garage, dubstep and breaks for more than two decades. In 2024 he introduced himself in his own words as Kid Ellipsis from Virginia (USA) when announcing his first release. Store credits back the civil name: Audiomack lists Will Gilfillan as producer on Use The Voice, Chance We Fly and Felt Like This, and No Loose Ends, with Prey4m3!, credits Will Gilfillan and Louis Hampton.

The useful split is between the booth and the catalogue. Beatport stresses more than twenty years behind the decks and a mix style that ignores genre fences, aimed at a soulful but cold, heavy breakbeat sound. Public DJ activity predates the official singles: a 2021 mix of more than sixty disco and jackin house tracks already includes an original titled Shadows of Your Love. The commercial Kid Ellipsis discography is later. On 4 October 2024 Close Your Eyes issued Lost In The Music (CYE119 / EN83). He presented it as his first ever release and said that after years as a DJ of breaks, electro and garage, putting out his own track had been one of his main goals.

DIRTY KITCHEN RAVE is now the main house. Beatport associates a large run with the London imprint — Felt Like This, My Clique Goes Bang, Rock You Like, Go Sick On It, Progression, That's Right Slaughter, Use The Voice, Look Around You, Wolf Out, Chance We Fly, Machine Elf Manual, Dance The Pain Away, Scape, Pop One — plus collaborations and remixes. Other labels include Close Your Eyes, Kaleidoscope Music, LW Recordings and AK Cartel.

The store catalogue is deliberately wide, not a single nu-skool-breaks lane. Beatport files recent titles across Breaks / Breakbeat / UK Bass (Gonna Change, No Loose Ends), UK Garage (Rock You Like), Bassline (Dance The Pain Away), Electro (Pop One, Scape) and 140 / Deep Dubstep / Grime (Machine Elf Manual), with occasional Bass House and Drum & Bass. The working identity is bass-driven club music built around breaks, UKG, electro and dubstep.
