Four Motion is a Spanish breakbeat project from Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, formed by two DJs and producers. Active since late 2007, it belongs to the Andalusian breaks continuum: a local network in which producers, DJs and promoters developed their own exchange with electro, bass and rave-derived club music.
Its early work established a breakbeat language with a pronounced electro edge, built from sharply programmed rhythms and synthetic textures. That approach placed Four Motion within the harder electronic side of the Andalusian breaks circuit rather than treating breakbeat as an isolated style.
In 2010, the project created The Next Sound, an Andalusian collective that connected Four Motion with regional DJs, producers and promoters. The initiative extended its activity beyond recordings into the local event culture around breaks.
That same year brought the first documented recordings with Toxic Beats. “BigBang” and “Chicago Trumpets,” issued by Funndark Records, introduced an early partnership rooted in the Spanish breaks environment.
The 2013 releases for Divergence pushed the sound towards a tougher electronic register. The Trash D’Disk EP paired “Dark Winter” with “Trash D’ Disco,” while Girl Die EP combined the title track and “Electronic” with remixes by Tony Lizana and Bl1tz.
“Symphony of Hell,” recorded in association with Toxic Beats and released by Sound Perfect Breakz Records later in 2013, continued that early connection. The record also placed Four Motion within the circulation of labels serving the Spanish breakbeat scene during the decade.
Four Motion has played Andalusian events including Summer Festival, Winter Festival, Floridance, White Hot Music, Black Cold Music, Karnival Animalia and Bass Presure. In 2011, it also appeared in the opening celebrations associated with Creamfields Andalucía in Jerez.
Those dates brought the project into line-ups shared with touring breaks and bass artists such as Adam Freeland, Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, Freq Nasty, Atomic Hooligans, Far Too Loud, Dirtyphonics, Hybrid and The Crystal Method. Such meetings between local promoters and international bookings were a defining feature of Andalusia’s breakbeat culture in that period.
Its later catalogue has appeared through labels including Toast & Jam Recordings, Elektroshok Records, Sound Perfect Breakz Records, Rough Division, Raveart Records, DELAFRÄ Records, ElectroBreakz and Funktasty Crew Records. Tracks such as “Strike X30,” “Flapjack,” “Mandalorian,” “Sugar B,” “Hangover,” “Broken” and the 2024 single “Moments” trace that continued activity across changing outlets.
Collaboration remains central to Four Motion’s recent work. Releases with Lustro, RMG, TRS, DJ WAVS, Welder B, Staxia, Perfect Kombo, Code Breakerz, Sunsha and Killerblitz connect the project with several generations of Spanish breaks artists. “Oshun” with Lustro, “What About” with Welder B, “She Like” with DJ WAVS, “Berlin” with RMG, “Bad Vip” with Perfect Kombo, “Criminal” with Staxia and “CLOSE TO ME” with TRS and Code Breakerz sit alongside solo cuts including “Paranoia,” “Skywalker” and “Fizzy.”
