DJ Tortu is a DJ, producer and promoter from Málaga, born in 1981. His civil name has not been published. The first decks are from 1998. By 1999 he was already playing raves and friends' farmhouses. In 2001, through Natural and at Sala Palladium, he starts to become known. The current Beatport profile, about forty tracks filed as Breaks / Breakbeat / UK Bass, is a second chapter. The DJ career is much older.
After Palladium he plays Palenque, the Seville Auditorium, the Coliseum in Atarfe, Industrial Copera, Caracho, Energía and the Gran Bukanero, and festivals such as Break Nation, Flash Back, Rocket Festival, Super Remember, Retro Al-Andalus and Electro Music Fabric. Those bills include Plump DJs, Freestylers, Stanton Warriors, Elite Force, JDS, Uberzone, Hyper, Freq Nasty, Evil Nine, Koma & Bones, Lee Coombs, Tayo, Rennie Pilgrem, Soul of Man, Future Funk Squad and Leroy Thornhill. In 2003 he signs to Energy Rave and to Zaq Records, and starts playing regularly in clubs, towns and fairs.
In 2005 he founds Heat Productions, later HeatPro, and organises BREAKBOAT, the breakbeat party on the Gran Bukanero boat, plus nights in Málaga clubs. In September 2006 he partners with DJ Killer and they open Sala Gaultier in Torremolinos, described as Málaga's first break club. José Rodríguez joins the team. Years later he was still explaining that he and Tortu were the public faces of HeatPro. The promotion did not fade: in 2024 there is a HeatPro night at True Club, Torremolinos, with Tortu, José Rodríguez, JottaFrank, Neva and Reality. In 2025 Vicious Magazine calls him founder of HeatPro, a pioneer of break in Spain, and a regular at Dreambeach and Monegros.
Musication Records starts in Málaga in 2013, focused on breaks, electro, dubstep and drum & bass. The roster includes The Brainkiller, V. Aparicio, Wardian, Guau, Paket, Cude, JottaFrank, Bad Legs and Tortu himself. Beatport associates nine tracks with him there, the same volume he now has on 83. In an interview he says "we own Musication" while talking about young producers having access to a label. The ownership split has not been published, so this file treats it as a label he is inside, not as a founding credit closed in his name. On SoundCloud he still has edits from around 2012 and 2013, among them the re-rub of "Insomnia", "Made In Tortu" and "The Fucking Crazy Session". A different profile, under the name Sebastián Aranda and placed in Fuente Álamo, is another person and is not part of this career.
The current house with the most weight, alongside Musication, is 83: "New Flesh" with Guau (2023), "Terror" with Wardian and "Super Party" (2024), "The Machine" (February 2025, included in Best New Breaks / UK Bass that March), "Laser" with Guau and "Cleopatra" (2025). Guau's 2026 remix of "Cleopatra" is number one on his Beatport top. Distorsion carries "Lora Del River" (with José Rodríguez and Nokaut), "Slapper" with Perfect Kombo, "Pull The Beat" with V. Aparicio, "Overdrive" and "Crispy" with The Brainkiller. On Elektroshok are "Flux" with Destroyers, "Fussion" with Paket, "Triple Bogey" with The Brainkiller and José Rodríguez, and "PayPay", his highest-performing current original on BeatStats, ahead of "Cleopatra".
He also remixes British break history. In 2026 his remix of "BIG 45" (Wizard, Ctrl-Z and Benji Wild) comes out on Break Beat Connection. Before that were the remix of "Jonny 5" (Wizard & Ivory, 2024) on the same label, Lady Waks' "Flame" with José Rodríguez on Hot Cakes, "DONDONDON" by Destroyers and Dub Elements, and "Estamos A Martes" by Gordo Master, Shade K and José Rodríguez on Space Pizza. The latest release is "Skin", on Raveart Records, 25 September 2026, at 140 BPM. He is still on festival bills: Dreambeach 2025, Pure Bassline Goes To The Beach, Sunlight and Break's In Rio.
