IVORY

IVORY is the stage name of Ivory Clark, a British composer, lyricist and vocalist. In 2026 he forms a creative duo with Phil Jones (Specimen A): not a one-off featuring, but a joint project with their own label, Knuckle Duster Records, and a twelve-track album, Girls, Money, Drink & Drugs, released on 2 September 2026.

Credits on Qobuz and on the Knuckle Duster releases identify him as composer and lyricist alongside Philip Jones. That role explains a large part of the record's identity: Specimen A builds huge drums and breakbeat basslines; Ivory brings the voice, the lines, the MC attitude and a vocal character that is recognisable almost immediately.

The album did not arrive all at once. Between 1 April (FLAME THROWER, the label catalogue's opening cut) and 2 September (GIMME GIMME and the full LP) they released almost the entire record track by track: PITBULL, BOOGEYMAN, KING OF THE JUNGLE, UNDEFEATED, FULL FAT, OUT OF THE BOX, ONE MAN CRIME WAVE, LIQUOR STORE, LONDON SOUND and CHOP CHOP. Several of those singles had already passed through Optimal Breaks' weekly selections before they were gathered as an album.

On 25 March 2026, Ivory and Phil appeared together on the podcast This Is Cliques (EP39). They talked about how the collaboration started, the process behind the album and why they launched Knuckle Duster: to keep control and build on their own terms, without depending on outside structures.

The result moves between breakbeat, UK bass, rave, jungle and soundsystem culture, always anchored in broken rhythms. PITBULL (132 BPM) summarises the duo's personality; BOOGEYMAN and KING OF THE JUNGLE push toward a darker, warehouse breaks; LIQUOR STORE and LONDON SOUND connect that energy to a contemporary British urban sensibility.
